Laser Vision Correction

If you are interested in decreasing your dependence on glasses or contact lenses, you probably have heard of LASIK. You even may have wondered if you would benefit from this procedure. All Laser Vision Correction procedures are not LASIK. You may have heard of PRK, Epi-LASIK, iLASEK, LASEK, NO CUT laser correction or Advanced Surface Laser Correction. How do I determine if I am a candidate for laser surgery? You must:


"If I have good distance vision and would like to eliminate glasses for reading, am I a candidate for laser vision correction?"

Probably not.

"Can I have Laser Vision Correction after I have had cataract surgery?"

If you have had cataract surgery with insertion of an intra-ocular lens (IOL) and you still need glasses for distance vision, you may be a candidate for laser vision correction. Although cataract surgery is a covered expense with insurance companies, laser vision treatment to enhance your out come is not.

"Can I have laser vision correction after I have had Radial Keratotomy?"

It is possible, but not likely.
